Room 127: Friendly Updates

Dearest families,

Happy Friday and end of the 2nd week of school! The kids did a lovely job this week and engaged in their first critique session!

Here are the updates for this week:

1. We have a fieldwork coming up on the 23rd of September from 9:00-2:00pm to the Museum of Art in San Diego. Here are the links below to the project and fieldwork

If you would like to volunteer to be a parent chaperone on our trip, either fill out the bottom portion on the fieldwork description OR complete the Room 127 Chaperone Sign Up on this link.

*If you would like to volunteer, please ensure that all your volunteer driver information and forms are signed and turned into the front desk with Susan Battituz.

2. Every week I update my 4th grade Digital Porfolio to keep you posted on things happening in school and in class. Please check out our news & updates blog to learn about our celebrations, OR look on our parent resource page for important documents or ways you can help your child at home.

4. Our Back to School Night is on 9/18 at 6:30pm in Room 127. We will invite all parents to join us to review expectations for students, extensions, digital portfolio, student-led conferences, home visits and other facets of our year.

6. This week we engaged in creating the first draft of our artwork. We also began looking at critique and how can give kind, specific and helpful critique to our classmates. Additionally we completed and critiqued our first draft poems. We created Venn Silhouettes to learn about each other and we continued to analyze characters through our read aloud Wonder. We looked at math and numbers in our lives. We also took time to get to know each other on our new HTe turf. Lastly, we met with 8th grade reading and writing buddies!

7. Your students were sent home today with a packet of Scholastic Catalogs. Thanks to Monique, our Scholastic Parent, we will now have monthly Scholastic Catalogs for the children to peruse and purchase discounted books from. Please follow the directions on the blue form to place an order from the Scholastic Catalogs. Acceptable forms of payment are check or credit card ONLY. Please do not send cash with your order form. 8. We will have a Family Morning Meeting on 10/2 from 7:00-8:00 in Room 127. Come to our first family morning meeting to learn about what's happening in class and other ways you can support your child at home!
