How do forces of nature and environment impact our local habitat?

​​As a part of our paying it forward project, we have adopted Frazee beach in Carlsbad State Beach. We will need to clean up the beach at least three times this year. The students learned about the watershed through our visit from I Love A Clean San Diego and discussed the impact of our trash on sea life. We went to the beach for a beach clean up day and it was a success! The kids had some burning wonderings afterwards as to how we can promote awareness to the trash issues in our community. 

In this project, students will design a marble run that will simulate how trash leads to the ocean. The students will study the design process, simple machines and affects and impacts of trash in the ocean. They will write persuasive writing pieces to a public audience to promote awareness of these issues.
