Growing Connections

In this project, students addressed the essential question: "How can we grow together?"

In order to build a more beautiful school community, students designed and constructed wooden flower boxes to represent themselves. Each side of the flower box reflects a part of the student: their passions, their wonderings, and their hopes and dream. They used multiple drafts and critique to illustrate all sides of their flower box.

Students also studied plants and categorized/analyzed various plants to grow in their flower boxes. After the finalized construction, students researched and selected plants to place in their box.

Lastly, students wrote Where I'm From poems based off of George Ella Lyon's poem to describe where they were from and make connections to grow together.

All garden boxes were placed throughout the school to add a symbolizm of growth and beauty.
