Playing for Change

Kids are drawn to music. They love to listen to music, they love to dance and sing and even work to it. Music can generate connections and stimulate emotions. Our favorite songs have the ability to transport us to another time and place. Music is powerful.

But what is the power of music? How does it affect our mood? How does it affect how we think? How can music make a difference in our lives and the lives of others? In order to delve deeper into these questions the 2nd grade students will explore the essential question, “How does music make a difference?” We will investigate how music impacts our lives and the lives of others, we will study music, explore the science of music, create music and build musical instruments to share with our HTe community and other children in our world.

Building Musical Instruments!

For our project, we will be building wood box guitars to donate to an orphanage and percussion instruments to be donated to our new school playground.

Why are we doing this?

In our project, we are exploring how music makes a difference. We will be creating these guitars and percussion instruments to spread music to others. We will be donating some of our musical instruments to children at an orphanage called Corazon de Vida in Baja California. We will be donating our percussion instruments to our new school playground.
